Theorem Youth Program
Theorem Youth Program is educational as well as performing and designed for youth to learn various techniques to be successful within the Drum & Bugle Corps and Winter Marching activities. All Theorem instructional staff are volunteers, and many have Drum & Bugle Corps or Winter Guard experience. This program is provided under the banner of the Boy Scouts of America Venturing; all courses are co-ed and entail the standard $15 per-year BSA Application fee plus a requirement for the youth to pay a minimal performance fee as well as engage in various fund raising activities. Theorem units may participate in the MCCGA circuit as an educational tool, but they will not move into the highly competitive WGI circuit; the primary focus for Theorem will be on education while the primary focus for Momentum Guard will be on DCI and/or WGI competition.
Our current offering is the Theorem-KC Winter Guard called "Destination".
It is
an instructional / performing curriculum targeted at youth
14 - 18 who do not have winter guard programs at their home high schools; and it is also a leadership skill development program for youth 19 - 21. Since Destination performers are comprised from various high schools, the unit performs in the MCCGA circuit as an Independent Guard instead of Scholastic.
On
Feb. 4, 2012 Destination performed for the first time; and they received one of the top ratings out of twenty-five units within
six classifications. This accomplishment made their first performance even more special; because as an Independent unit
comprised of only high school age performers they are participating with units who utilize performers up to 21 years of
age.
